Testosterone levels fluctuate depending on your age and overall health. However, if your testosterone levels are consistently low or high, treatments like testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) are available.
Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can help to relieve the symptoms of low T, including:
Irritability
Mood swings
Fatigue
Difficult sleeping (insomnia)
Poor concentration
Loss of muscle mass
Reduced ability to exercise
Fat redistribution, such as having a large belly
Gynecomastia (male breasts)
Brittle bones
Various treatments can balance your testosterone levels, including testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) and healthy lifestyle changes.
Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is a form of hormone therapy in which androgens, like testosterone, are replaced or supplemented. More specifically, it helps restore your testosterone levels to balance.
Forms of TRT include prescription testosterone injections, oral medications, and topical gels. Your provider orders blood work at each visit to monitor your hormone levels and make adjustments as needed.
It's impossible to predict the outcome of TRT because every man is different. Even so, many patients report an improvement in their libido and energy levels. Testosterone replacement therapy also increases muscle mass, bone density, and insulin sensitivity.
For some men, these results occur within a few weeks of starting treatment. But for others, it takes several months to notice an improvement. Follow your provider’s instructions and attend each of your scheduled checkups.
Call the nearest Whole Men's Health office today to schedule a testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) consultation, or book your appointment online.
